Jaeho Kim
I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in Strategy and Entrepreneurship. I am on the 2025–2026 academic job market.
My research explores how firms create early-stage knowledge that shapes the direction of innovation in emerging technologies. One research stream examines how firms create value from technologies with broad applicability—what I refer to as technological generality. Another stream investigates how individuals shape the adaptability and complementarity of knowledge within organizations.
My work draws on theories of organizational search and learning, and conceptual foundations of technological trajectories, path dependence, and entrepreneurial experimentation. Empirically, I use large-scale data from artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and biotechnology, applying methods such as econometrics, deep learning-based text analysis, and formal modeling.
